Lesson 6, Topic 1
In Progress

My Journey Backpack Copy

As you may remember, we use the metaphor of a Journey Backpack to describe the thoughts, beliefs and feelings we would like you to consciously connect with when engaging with the content of this programme.

This refers to the way you think about yourself, the way you think about and how you engage with your peers in the online social spaces, group MasterClasses as well as Peer Mentoring, as well as the course content.

What do you need to remember to pack in your Journey Backpack?

We believe approaching the programme with these lenses will help you to get the most from it.

No Judgement

There is no right or wrong here. No thought is better or worse than any other. No choice is the right or wrong choice. Simply observe, and try to see the facts of your thoughts and experiences, suspending your judgement of them.

Everything is OK. You are safe. There is no threat to your physical, mental, emotional or spiritual self in this space.

Especially as a mentor, it’s important to remember that someone else’s financial world and Life circumstances may be quite different from your own. How can you support them without judging their decisions or actions?

Be Curious

Curiosity opens up our minds and allows us to learn and grow. Asking questions is a great way to be curious. You can ask yourself why something is happening or wonder what is going on? Ask why? What is this about? What does this mean to me? How can I apply this in my Life?

Being curious about your Mentee is a great way to suspend judgement about what they might share with you.

Ask Questions

We love questions! Questions help us be curious, and questions help us uncover new ways of thinking that we might not have been able to access before.

There are no stupid questions, ever! If you get stuck at any point, please reach out and ask for clarity or help.

Asking your Mentee questions is how can turn your curiosity into engagement with them and help them to get curious about themselves, how they see the world and their money and think about what’s driving the decisions they’re making in their financial world.

Your Information is Sacred

As you will read and agree to in the Confidentiality Agreement, anything you share on this platform through engagement with the self-learning part of the course, or with our Lifestyle Financial Planners & Coaches in an individual session, is private and confidential and will not be shared with anyone else.

When you share in the group spaces either on the platform in the forums or during the group video calls we ask that you respect your peers and agree to keep their information confidential, just as we are asking them to keep your sharing safe.

The bottom line is that we will not share any information you share with us with anyone else, without your explicit consent and we ask that you uphold the same integrity.

Respect Each Other in Group Spaces

We ask that you engage kindly and with the awareness that, as we mentioned above, we are each on our own individual journey and that your journey will look different to another’s. We therefore ask that when engaging on the platform in the forums or during the group video calls you allow others to speak without interrupting, and respond thoughtfully and kindly.

Once you’re ready, “Mark Complete” to move on to the Confidentiality Agreement.
